Del libro: La máquina del hype

what an article by the new York times , it makes November X threads about A.I look like a college project and after reading it I feel I just finished the first season of game of thrones silicon valley edition.

A bit of everything on this read :

  • Main characters we know and love (or hate) fighting against each other (one is clearly tech “little finger”)

  • A dramatic plot to solve humanity or destroy it (I lean for the first one, loved the talk about the comitee meetings also mentioned on the book the big 9 by Amy Webb)

  • Some inside knowledge into an obscure topic :big tech compensation, Can you picture the big 9 bidding 40Million ! for a team of researchers ?

  • a couple of “unexpected” plot twists (of course he threw a tantrum )

  • a cliffhanger , lurking on the back is the dream A.G.I

If you like a good read whether it’s about AI or not I highly recommend this article.

Some of my predictions for the next part:

  • A bit more depth into government and their involvement on the matter (are we just going to ignore the very vivid dragon ?)

  • A come back from the briefly mention Schmidt to the table

  • A rebirth type of plot for Ilya

  • of course a bit of fear mongering to engage readers quickly followed by oversimplified explanation of A.I (reminded me of couple weeks back when a colleague mentioned on ae academic forum we participated in ” A.I it’s just simple math…”)

What I would have given to eavesdrop on that 2015 party…

Let me know your thoughts!
