2024 is off to an amazing start! Today, one of my colleagues from Google Cloud shared an article with me that truly blew my mind. Published in Nature (which speaks volumes about its credibility), the paper discusses how AI image recognition can be tricked by ‘invisible adversarial attacks.’ But what really surprised me is that this vulnerability isn’t limited to AI; it seems humans can fall for these attacks too. This reminds me of a recent TikTok trend where older family members couldn’t distinguish between computer-generated images and real ones, like mistaking GTA footage for actual events. It highlights a significant shift in human thought. I can already imagine my kids soon saying to me, in a condescending tone, ‘Dad, this is obviously AI,’ while I struggle to tell the difference. This development raises fascinating questions about the future of AI and human perception. What do you think?
